It's easier to honor bigger commitments that we have made to others and that carry some sort of penalty if canceled or missed.
It's a whole other ball game to honor commitments we have made to ourselves. Or smaller commitments to people we don't have strong relationships with, and missing them doesn't carry any form of penalty.
And yet, those smaller commitments are the most important. Because they are the ones that build our leadership self-concept. Our self-confidence and self-trust. From there, we build consistency, discipline, and high performance.
