The world's best soccer players don't perform at the World Cup level by accident. They treat their body and mind as their biggest asset.
They are pros just like you are a pro in business.
That's why a week at the cottage in August won't restore you if you're not taking care of yourself the other 51 weeks of the year. Today's Maggie's Moment is your reminder of why taking care of yourself is not a luxury but a must-do for all business owners.
The FIFA World Cup is here, and if you're anything like me, there's something about watching the world's best soccer players on that stage that just gives you chills. Think about what it takes to be there: years of training, thousands of hours of practice, an elite level of physical conditioning, and a mental strength that allows you to perform at your absolute best when the entire world is watching and the pressure is at its highest. These athletes know something that most business owners forget: their body and their mind are their biggest asset, full stop. Not the tactics, not even a team, not the strategy on its own, themselves, and they treat themselves accordingly because they know that without a sharp mind and a strong body, none of the rest works Now I want you to think about your business for a second, because you are the biggest asset in your business too. Every decision your business makes flows through you. Every strategy, every client interaction, every solution to every problem, it all comes from your mind. And your mind can only function at its best when you take care of the body it lives in I see the light bulb moment happen with my clients all the time. That moment when they realize, "Oh, I am my business's biggest asset, and I should be taking care of myself the way a pro takes care of themselves." And that's exactly who you are, a pro. Your business is your profession. It provides for your family. It gives you purpose. It's how you make your living and your impact in the world, just like soccer is for those players on the World Cup field. So you have to take care of yourself like a pro, not like an amateur. Now, I'm a business and leadership coach, not a medical professional, so I'm not here to give you health advice. What I do is work with my clients on the mindset side of this, helping them understand why taking care of themselves isn't selfish, but it's strategic. And then I always encourage them to hire the right experts for the body side, whatever that... whether that's a nutritionist, a trainer, a doctor, whomever they need What I will say is this, and consider this your reminder as we head into summer. A week off in July or two weeks at the cottage in August, wonderful. You deserve it. But that alone will not restore you if you don't have proper habits taking care of yourself all year long. Recovery isn't a summer event. It's a daily practice. Sleep, nourishment, movement, fresh air, mental maintenance. These are not luxuries. These are non-negotiables for you and your business. Take care of yourself this summer and every season after it. You are a pro, act like one. Happy Monday.
